Walter Zimmermann’s “The Edge” begins and ends with the paintings of Robert Ryman, filmed during an exhibition of his works at the Kunstmuseum Bonn. Meditations on the mainly white surfaces of his canvasses and works on paper are in counterpoint to the compositions “The Edge” (performed by ensemble recherche with words by Robert Creeley) and “Lösung” (performed by Trio Basso).
