The nineteen research works included in this volume approach the transmission of knowledge in the Middle Ages from a variety of perspectives. Among these, particular attention is paid to the ways in which ideas were conveyed in didactic works, literature—understood in a broad sense—and translations. The different actors involved in the transmission process (authors, audiences, commissioners, owners) as well as their role in the dissemination of knowledge are also placed at the centre of this work.

Lidón Prades Yerves graduated in English Studies at Universitat Jaume I, where she also completed her Master's studies and has worked as a part-time lecturer for the English Studies Department. She is currently working as research personnel in training in the same institution, a position she obtained through a grant from the Valencian Regional Government. Her doctoral dissertation, which she is currently writing, deals with the presence of exempla in Arthurian romances written in Middle English, a topic about which she has published some articles and book chapters, including «The Transmission of Exempla in Mediaeval Romances: Mansucripts, Sources and Reception», published in A Philologist World of Texts: Festschrift in Honour of Professor Jeremy Smith (2022). Tomàs Martínez Romero is Professor of Medieval Literature at Universitat Jaume I (Castelló de la Plana, Spain), co-director of Corpus des trobadours (International Project) and Member of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans. He is author of Un clàssic entre clàssics: sobre traduccions i recepcions de Sèneca a l’època medieval (1998), Tòpics literaris, traducció medieval i tradició romànica (2007), La literatura profana antiga i el «Cançoner satírich valencià (2010), Bernat Fenollar i Miquel Estela, poetes de cançoner (2018), La predicació de sant Vicent Ferrer per les comarques de Castelló (2021), Paula, Eustòquia i la duquessa de Gandia: traduccions antigues d’obres de sant Jeroni sobre comportament femení (2022), as well as other titles.
