Topic of part 1: the developments in our culture since the early nineties. The following aspects will be addressed by the artists' contributions in this setting: the idea of living in a global culture, be available communication-neuroses, the bubble-economy, up-speeding, logoculture. Connecting the superfluity culture with the actual situation in our culture: stagnation, lethargy and being-superfluous. The Berlin artist Catrin Otto will set up a large, low-sound space. This space, which partly absorbs noises, moves between feeling clinical or being a »place for thorough disorientation«. But from a curatorial point of view it is also a passage that makes the senses more acute for Part 3 and prepares people for the great silence. Susanne Weirich is mounting a multi-media presentation in the neighbouring space and Marc Bauer will also show one of his works. Here timelessness, poetry and visual beauty are to the fore. These spaces contrast starkly with the flood of images that characterize Part 1. Part 3 can be seen as a kind of time-out space; it deals with spaces in which people can lose themselves, that stimulate concentration, that (are intended) to function as a mental filling station.
