Michael
O'Neal has news for his best friend Julianne Potter. He's getting married
– to somebody else. The day after tomorrow. Julianne has had nine years
and four days to realise that she loves Michael, but it takes panic and
feelings of loss to awaken the necessary emotions. Now war is declared
on the bride-to-be, Kimmy Wallace. This woman, in stark contrast, has heard
so much about Julianne, that she asks her to be a bridesmaid. Julianne
gets an attack of conscience, but she can live with it: this is all about
her own lovelife. In a subtly but kindly way Julianne spends all her energies
on surruptitiously convincing Michael that this wedding is a bad idea.
And, heavens, is she good! But however much she tries, every minor and
major crisis the couple suffers ends up with them closer than before. Luckily
her new gay friend George Downes can offer her more than just a shoulder
to cry on. He gets on a plane and demonstrates his own brand of entertainment,
confusion and surprise...
