Yet another film all about two people who sleep together, one of them with another, who in turn copulates with a fourth, etc., etc., until the film nears its conclusion, and the last person in the chain ends up with the first. Comparisons with similar films come in droves, and find their answer here: Eclipse is also not lesbian, but all the more gay, mostly in black and white and not quite as original, but with rather more carefully drawn characters. Last but not least, Eclipse obviously needs an eclipse of the sun to really get going. Matthew Ferguson, the Canadian answer to German actor André Eisermann (Durst, Kaspar Hauser), plays another gay role, like Kane in Love and Human Remains.
Not that we wish to complain, on the contrary, it's just that there is an obvious trend, propagated by films like these. It began with works like Three of Hearts and Threesome, in which lesbian or gay sexuality is thrown at us whith such coquettish force that any straight girl will want to sleep with a gay man, or vice versa. Eclipse takes this to its logical extreme: a straight woman simply takes a gay man in the darkroom, whether he wants to or not...
