Represents the 27th district of California in the foothills of Los Angeles, including Glendale and Pasadena. He spent $700,000 getting reelected with 50% of the vote in the 1992 general election after gaining only 62% in a Republican primary. I dont have stats for 1994. He turned 75 last May, so I suspect he may be getting very close to retirement. ACLU rating of 0, ADA rating of 5%, various conservative groups rate him at 100%. Does seem decent on transit projects for LA though. Interestingly, a Green Party candidate drew 5% of the vote against him in 92. From his bio: "Substantively, Moorhead has worked hard to protect intellectual property rights and copyrights, major US assets in international trade." During the 103rd Congress, he served on the Energy&Commerce Committee, as well as the Judiciary Committee (2nd of 14 Republicans). On Judiciary, his subcommittee assignments then included Economic and Commercial Law, and Intellectual Property and Judicial Administration. Of course, committee assignments in the 103rd Congress dont guarantee what committees he is on in the 104th Congress, but someone with his senority probably doesnt change committees too often. That would indicate why the COS would be cozying up to him, though.
