Scientology
and Scientologists on the World Wide Web
A collection of internet resources from Scientology and Scientologists
to show "the other side". (Unlike Scientology, which does not believe in
outside links) If you are a Scientologist, ignore the humorous comments
and use this page as a resource to meet your friends. If you are a Scientology
critic, please do not e-mail these people – some Scientologists
immediately cry "harassment!" or "persecution!" or send a 26Mb video file
in your in-box when they get an e-mail from a critic, regardless of the
content.
General disclaimer: some information here comes from
second-hand sources, like newspapers, Scientology publications or mailing
lists. Please contact me at tilman at snafu dot de if you believe
you found an error, if you want evidence about allegations, or if
you do not want to be listed here (I will comply on the last
one only if your affiliation isn't known from other well-known public sources,
e.g. your own web site, obvious scieno-speak, newspapers, your own internet
posts, court files, scientology business guides, your scientologists friends,
the WISE business guide, etc). Information leading to inclusion in this web page might
be outdated, so verify before making "vital" decisions.
Special note 10.10.1997: Because
of a decision of the german supreme court related to the "outing" of scientologists
(Scientologist Sabine H. had sued to prevent from being publicly called
a Scientologist), names of "closet scientologists" (i.e. not already known)
gathered only through TNX-L or IMPACT, and who are not "publicly proselytising"
have been removed, although I was not a party of that lawsuit, and although
I do not believe that german courts have jurisdiction about this since
US citizens have almost no privacy rights in their own country.
Special Note 18.11.2001: I have
replaced my links to most scientology websites with italic characters with
the link text only. Scientology has been on a large scale operation to
create 100s of bogus hosts to link to each other in an effort to overwhelm
the Google.com search
engine, so there is no need for me to support this with my links.
Disclaimer for individuals: Except where mentioned,
I do not make a statement about these people except that I have evidence
suggesting
that they are Scientologists. This might be disputed by them in a court,
claiming they didn't know that they were listed in a Scientology publication.
Warning:
Many sites of individual scientologists contain "poetry", usually of poor
quality (scientologists are prohibited to criticize each other,
this is called "invalidation" and is a big no-no).
Disclaimer for companies: Except where mentioned,
I do not make a statement about the products or services these companies
or organizations sell; but I have evidence suggesting that they
are owned or managed by Scientologists. This might be disputed by them
in a court, claiming they didn't know that they were listed in a Scientology
publication. I do not allege that these are owned by Scientology
or are Scientology front-groups, or that they are selling Scientology
under another name, or that they are forcing their employees to take Scientology
courses, or that they defraud their customers. It is quite possible that
there are a few people who remain honest, even after 20 years in scientology.
Scientology and related organizations
There was a time when Scientology had no web pages at all, only critics
had them. Everyone made fun of them. OSA boy Andrew Milne said "It's not
our highest priority", and the only page was Leisa Goodman's page.
But now, they have cluttered the web with an incredible
number of web hosts to increase the probability of individual pages to
be listed.
-
The Scientology Home Page at Scientology.org sells the commercial
works of L. Ron Hubbard that got tax exemption in the US, after 40 years of
disputes and a secret agreement.
You wonder how the (old) homepage got so many "awards" in the 90ies? The internet
infidels have the answer.
Judge Paul Breckenridge Jr. of the Superior Court of the State of California
gave an accurate description of the scientology organization and its founder
in the case
Church
of Scientology of California vs. Gerald Armstrong:
The organization clearly is schizophrenic and paranoid,
and the bizarre combination seems to be a reflection
of its founder LRH.
The evidence portrays a man who has been virtually a
pathological liar when it comes to his history, background,
and achievements. The writings and documents in evidence
additionally reflect his egoism, greed, avarice, lust for power,
and vindictiveness and aggressiveness against persons perceived
by him to be disloyal or hostile. |

See also early
documents from the life of L. Ron Hubbard. Around June 1997, Scientology
began spreading its propaganda over several hosts, in an effort to achieve
supremacy in search engines. One fun host is scientologyhandbook.org, with
a crackpot explanation of how
Aspirin works (with alleged "clinical tests"). More stupidity from
this book on my page Stupidity
of Scientology exposed by its own web pages. Also amusing
is opposing.scientology.org: it's an evil conspiracy by the psychs.
-
World Institute of Scientology Enterprises (Wise.org): this coordinates
the white-collar activities of Scientologists, and tries to put Scientology
under another name ("Hubbard management tech") in businesses. See some
examples in the business section of this page.
-
Sterling Management Systems
(Kevin Wilson,
WISE 1999 AND 2001 list, in the past also known as Emery Wilson Corporation),
tries to lure dentists, chiropractors, podiatrists and veterinarians into
Scientology, even holding them against their will, as shown by the experience
of Dee Rowe
and Glover Rowe or of Dorothy and Robert
Geary (read also the declaration
of Robert Geary), and described in an article by the Better
Business Bureau. The founder is Greg Hughes, as of June 2004 the owner
and chairman is Kevin
C. Wilson. Their trademarks are owned by the J. Chase Wilson Corporation
(Chase
Wilson ?). They are now (June 2004) honest enough to mention
L. Ron Hubbard, but not Scientology. Their professional
advice is possibly useless. Read a more recent
account by a woman who lost $34,000 in 1996.
Read a 1986 memo from Sterling CEO Greg Hughes (which became known as part of a lawsuit against the Cult Awareness Network), explaining that their goal of a "cleared planet".
Some examples of clients who became Scientologists through Sterling
Management:
On 21.11.2007, Scientologist Thora
Magnusson had an announcement
about open staff positions on "TheRazzline!" ("Your Theta Comm Line") that
read Be paid to contribute to a group that introduces LRH ethics and
admin tech to professionals. Our clients go up The Bridge!

poetry
-
Writersofthefuture.com: recruiting potential people to re-write
short stories of L. Ron Hubbard into "new" long stories and re-release
them.
-
Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health (at Dianetics.org):
1944
Physics Nobel prize winner Isidor Isaac Rabi said about the Dianetics
book that
Dianetics is unscientific, not modern, unhealthy, but one thing is true:
L. Ron Hubbard was considered a mental case by the FBI, who then
ignored his silly letters.
A german internet magazine (pizz@) had this to say about the 3D tour of the human mind:
Sadly no one knows who was the model for the
3D tour of the mind, but it was certainly not
a Scientologist - one dimension would already
have been enough. |

Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR.org): this hate group
isn't about human rights, it is there to claim that the psychs (which
includes psychologists, psychiatrist or just anyone involved in mental
health) are somehow responsible for World
War II, the war in Bosnia, America's
poor education level (see
here how they invent statistics and also here),
and much more. Their hate is also a result of L. Ron Hubbard's deluded
opinions on drugs, especially Aspirin, although he was a pill popper
himself, he even took VISTARIL, a "psych drug", before his death, as precribed
by scientologist Gene Denk. If you need another evidence what sort of kooks
are in CCHR, see what scientology
teaches about Aspirin, although the real explanation involves prostaglandines,
and brought Sir John R. Vane (and not L. Ron Hubbard)
the
Nobel prize of medicine in 1982. CCHR has many fronts; an example is
CCHR Toronto which runs Psychinvestigator.com and Psychiatryexposed.org,
hiding
behind Scientology staff member George A. Mentis.
L. Ron Hubbard hate of psychiatrists is also shown by this scurrilous
text:
Psychiatrists, failing to grasp it [letting "pre-clears" talk],
murdered several million people - so it's no light matter.
(...)
The reason 33 1/3 percent of all psycho-analytic patients
are said to have committed suicide in their first three
months of treatment is not that they "came too late" but
that a lot of wild data was thrown at them to get at their
"source of guilt" and they went head on into the reactive bank,
sought to demonstrate their "guilt" by making others guilty
and killing themselves. |

Narconon.org, Friendsofnarconon.org: a Scientology front
group pretending to bring people off drugs. Their activities in Spain resulted
in the arrest of 70 Scientologists, including president Heber Jentzsch.
Narconon won't tell you that they run drug rehabilitation centers whose
staff are often unqualified, their methods unscientific, useless and designed
to replace the addiction to drugs with the addiction to Scientology. Their
celebrity
spokesperson was Kirstie Alley until 2001 - this was possibly changed
due to persistent rumors that she has never done the program. Critical
information about Narconon Chilocco can be found here
and here; you can also read
the story of drug addict Christiane
F. in Narconon in Berlin.
A german court ruled in 1993 that it is allowed to claim that not
a single successful drug rehabilitation has been proven (VGH
Stuttgart, Az: 1 S 3021/92).
Scientology routinely denies that Narconon is a recruiting front. This
document that shows that Narconon into Scientology and gets rewarded
for it.
-
Criminon.org: a lesser known front group which tries to introduce
Scientology in jail. The advantage is that if inmates complain, they won't
be listened to, since they are criminals. This
site has critical information about criminon.
-
Penalrehab.org alias Second Chance Program Prison-Based Rehabilitation:
a mix of Narconon and Criminon for prisons. Note that the website does
not mention Scientology.
-
Appliedscholastics.org: this front group claims to bring us L. Ron
Hubbard's break-through's in education. They believe that all what your
children don't understand is because of
misunderstood words that
have to looked up in the dictionary, instead of a misunderstood concept,
a learning problem, or poor teaching material. Read an
insider account what actually happened in another Applied Scholastics
school, a general discussion about Scientology
Study Technology, including a
case
study of the Delphi Academy in LA.
Scientology won't tell you why the "Educator" L. Ron Hubbard failed
in university and bought a PhD from a degree mill, and why the current
leader David
Miscavige did not even finish high school. Read excerpts from a deposition
to admire
the literacy of David Miscavige.
Related front groups: the World Literacy Crusade at Worldliteracy.org
and the Hollywood Education & Literacy Project (H.E.L.P. at Helplearn.org).
Another name of Applied Scholastics is Effective
Training Solutions. ETS is run by Ingrid Gudenas, who was listed as
director
of Applied
Scholastics of San Francisco on a (website vanished in April 2002),
and that had the same phone number
510 797 6806. (In December 2003,
a google phone
search found both names!) The official
Applied Scholastics site mentions her too. A look at the courses
shows that it is Scientology, although it is now named 100% Proficiency®
Training. For some time, the Administrative
contact was Scientologist Eric Anderson, who once had a web page in
which he dreamed to introduce Scientology
Study Technology into Korean schools.
ETS
has even trained people from Cisco! (Read also the article
in The Register) Maybe Cisco has never heard from the lawsuit Hunziker
v. Applied Materials, where the same Ingrid Gudenas was involved as
president of Applied Scholastics, and Applied
Materials was sued for forcing its staff to attend thinly disguised Scientology
courses. Applied Materials settled the case for an estimated $600,000
and an admission that it had lacked sensitivity with regard to the to
the controversial nature of L. Ron Hubbard.
ETS is based in Fremont, CA
-

-

In an introductory letter until April 2005,
"founder" Joke Reeder
mentions an "enemy school system" and claims that a boy who gets an "A" in math is "progressing towards death".
Hahahaha! (Her wacky rant was changed in October 2005 to something different and less loony). As of December 2009, the website was redesigned and now the "founder" is a different scientologist: Cheri Hall.
Based in Newberry Springs, CA
-
The Mace-Kingsley Ranch School (Molly
Baxter) was the really nasty place to dump children, even by scientology
standards. Some compared it to a children's RPF. Additionally, you should
know that according to former Scientologist Astra Woodcraft, girls have
been
sexually molested
by former owner Wally Hanks / Wallace Hanks. You can also
listen
to Astra Woodcraft telling it on video. This has also been confirmed
by former Scientologist Jane Scott. The matter was successfully covered
up and no charges were ever been filed. Wally had an official Scientology
"individual" homepage until May 2004 - then it vanished.
Wally
is also the founder of the Roundhouse Yacht Club. At some time in 2002,
the website mk-ranch.com vanished. In May 2003, the ranch reappeared
with the name Hacienda Del Espirito, Inc. aka
New
Mexico Ranch, and is for sale. In 2004, former student Meagan
Porpora spoke out about the school.
There
is also a Mace-Kingsley Family Center
in 900 Grove Street, Clearwater. In December 2008, a recording surfaced alleging that he beat up a child. In 1999, an interview with him surfaced. It is weird. (Transcript)

Lewis Caroll Academy of the

Note also their literacy and count the orthographic

it was named The World Literacy Crusade Pinellas County, Inc, after
that it was renamed to The Community Learning Center, Inc. which
seems to be the actual name of business. Have a look at the
incorporations papers and you'll find many familiar names!
-
Foundation for the advancement of Science
and Education (FASE): their goal is to establish credibility for Hubbard's
drug rehabilitation and education methods and attract "Opinion Leaders"
in the scientific community. The method: educational videos on mathematics
and other sciences for public television. Quite surprising, considering
that L. Ron
Hubbard said that calculus is useless. For some time they were the
major source of funds for teacher Jaime Escalante (who is not a
scientologist). I was unable to find any scientology concept on their home
page.The
Boston Herald has an article detailing the links between Scientology and
FASE.

The Way to Happiness (TWTH.Org) is Hubbard's amusing attempt to
rewrite the ten commandments into twenty-one rules which do not seem to
be binding for Scientology itself. The celebrity spokesperson was Nancy
Cartwright, also known as the voice of Bart Simpson, until January
2002 when their website was redone completely. It claims to be a "non religious
moral code", but is actually the 10 commandments rewritten in Hubbard language.
-
Association for Peace and Understanding in the Middle East (Apume.org):
The Way to Happiness for Palestinians
-
Association for better living and education (Able.org): this front
group is the parent of NARCONON, CRIMINON, The Way to Happiness and Applied
Scholastics, to hide that these are 100% Scientology organisations.

Hubbard College of Administration at Hubbardcollege.org teaches
the "management skills" by Hubbard that are used in the Scientology organization.
It doesn't matter that the only organization Hubbard ever managed is a
bureaucratic scam. Read an example of the disastrous
results of the application of those skills.

The road to freedom:
an attempt of Scientology celebrities to make music. You have been warned
– music and lyrics are by L. Ron Hubbard. Listen to Amanda Ambrose singing
The
worried being ("he had to hide, hide, hide"), and – even worse – Elron
himself
singing Thank you for listening.
Did some prankster put a sock in Ron's mouth or what?
If you are german, visit the german
site next, and listen to Amanda Ambrose desperatly trying to sing Das sorgenvolle Wesen ("es mußte sich verstecken, stecken, stecken").
For those who still haven't suffered enough, there is a new CD named
The Joy of Creating, with titles like Theta, Theta, see you later.
As of 2009, it has quietly vanished from scientology websites.
-
The Cult Awareness Network (CAN) at Cultawarenessnetwork.org: yes,
you read that right. Scientology, through attorney Steven
L. Hayes, took over CAN, and transformed it into a cult front group.
It is now operated by the Foundation for Religious
Freedom, which is a Scientology organisation. (It is even mentioned
in the secret IRS agreement)
Initially the "new CAN" just distributed propaganda against the old CAN;
now it got even worse, as
the mother of a cult member found out. The site was originally available
under the two userids "can" (Suzy Jones) and "suzy" (Karl Wehrli). If you
still have doubts that CAN is scientology, read what CAN VP Jean Hornnes
has to say:
We have successfully prevented deprogrammings and we have
taken broken families and helped to put them back together
by using standard LRH technology on handling PTSness. |
Scientology's IMPACT magazine, issue
#72
The Foundation for Religious Freedom also operates nopsychs.org,
a hate site against the mental health profession; tolerance2000.org,
a site that promotes a book co-written by Scientology that wants to "educate"
relatives of cultists (don't trust media, critical books and anti-cult
websites).
-
The Drug-Free Marshalls (Drugfreemarshals.org) is another effort
to ride on the anti-drug bandwagon, to gain acceptance in society. Related
to this is the Clearwater Say No To Drugs run (Saynotodrugs.com),
which has a CSFSO copyright. Brought to you by the group founded by a guy
who popped "pinks and greys".
-
International Foundation
for Human Rights and Tolerance (formerly Foundation for religious
tolerance): this web site is for the "Scientologists on the run" events
in Europe, where scientologists claim to run from city to city, while nobody
notices. Their "youth organisation" is Youth
for Human Rights International, with Scientology "celebrity" Lynsey
Bartilson (from the "Grounded for life" TV series) as spokesperson
and Scientologist Mary
Untiedt (alias Mary Shuttleworth) as founder. They promote a booklet
"What are human rights" which explains the UN Universal Declaration of
Human Rights.
-
Citizens for an Alternative Tax System (C.A.T.S.)
started as a Scientology front; although there is no evidence that it ever
recruited for Scientology, the purpose of the group (which has also non-Scientologists
as members) is to make the I.R.S. obsolete. While it is no longer an "active
front", it is operated by scientologists. Executive Director is Scientologist
Vic Krohn (also mentioned as Victor Krohn). President is the infamous Scientologist
attorney Steven
L. Hayes. See another evidence of Scientology participation.
Besides this, Scientologist Marie C. Gale (OT8) is listed as Florida Regional
Office Director in the WISE 1991 list. She was also Director
of CCHR of the Carolinas until April 1998 (her name was removed). The
Operations Director of C.A.T.S. Las Vegas
is WISE member Glenn Wahlquist, who is also president of the Citizen
Information Network.

Parishioners.org and Religiousfreedomwatch.org were originally
operated by the now bankrupt scientologist ISP Relay Point (Doug
DeStafeno, WISE 1999, 2001 directory), now it is operated by Scientologist
Joel Phillips, although it is obviously an effort by the Scientology Office
of Special Affairs (some picketers were told by Scientology officials that
their mugshots would be set up on the site). Several of us, including me,
had to threaten legal action to have them remove copyright violations (pictures
taken by us).
-
TipsForSuccess.org (Mike
Chatelain): promotes short articles by L. Ron Hubbard to be placed
in newspapers. I found several of these articles in The New Straits Times,
a Malaysian newspaper. The newspaper did not mention Scientology.

Gegevens over de Scientology®
Kerk: Karel Jeelof, the dutch flavour of Andrew Milne, brings us the
cult's response for readers in The Netherlands. I doubt that he tells that
they retracted their lawsuit a day before trial because their notary could
not prove the accuracy of their documents. If you can read dutch, then
you should read Weerstand
tegen Scientology, a document telling us about the big conspiracy by
the CIA, FBI, FDA, IRS, Psychiatry, CIA, Interpol, Eli Lilly, CIA, I.G.
Farben, TIME, the German government and the CIA. Yeah, and Scientology
found out that John Lennon was killed by an FBI plot.

Battlefield Earth: one of
Elron's books. Earth is under the control of the psychlos, but Jonnie
Goodboy Tyler wipes them out by page 596. The movie was "being produced

totally in 2000.
-
The Association of Citizens
for Social Reform (ACSR) sponsors the CSR
PAC (founder: Don
Pearson, known from the Allstate
fiasco) and describes itself as an advocacy group founded by concerned
citizens who have individually been supporters of human rights and social
reform activities such as CCHR and Narconon to address society's problems
with crime, illiteracy, drug abuse and moral decline, which means it
will support politicians who believe scientology's anti-psychiatry propaganda.
Obviously, this is an effort by "individual Scientologists" to do what
Scientology itself is prohibited to do. One of the people involved is Scientologist
Greg
Mitchell, former Chief of Staff for Glendale Rep. James E. Rogan (more

She’s the one that led Lisa to the brink and

& Assoc., Inc. v. Kolts, 7 F.3d 1452, 1454-55 (9th Cir. 1993):
In the consolidated Scientology v. Mayo cases supervised by Special Master
Kolts, Mayo's counsel Jerold Fagelbaum complained twice because of delays
getting transcripts. He also found out that they were Scientologists and
made financial contributions. Fagelbaum stated that this affiliation created
a conflict of interest and that he would object to Atkinson-Baker providing
reporting services in the case. Kolts dismissed the company and ABI sued
alleging violation of their religious freedom. The lawsuit was dismissed
twice simply because Kolts, as "Special Master" was absolutely immune from
suit.

They have issued stocks, so the
SEC has lots
of info. Another investor
is Scientologist George
Murgatroyd and other members of his lawfirm. Their stock dropped 83%
on 23.1.1998 when their creative bookkeeping was revealed (they counted
products shipped to distributors as sold). DIGL has been hit with 23
class action lawsuits! These were settled
in July 1998 - partly with insurance money!! Most interesting is an earlier
lawsuit by H. Brian Haney who claims to have been defrauded into selling
his shares at a ridiculously low price after his wife was no longer a scientologist
in good standing and Haney had refused to divorce her (the lawsuit was
settled
in November 1998). At the beginning of 1999 Zwan quit as CEO and president,
and was replaced by a non scientologist. Zwan did however remain chairman
of the board. On 31.4.1999 Haney sued again, claiming that the terms of
the settlement agreement had been breached and requesting that the settlement
agreement be specifically enforced and that damages in excess of $75,000
be awarded, or, alternatively, that the settlement agreement be set aside.
(See also
description
of the lawsuit, which mentions scientology) The lawsuit was apparently
settled at the end of the year 2000. On 26.1.2000, non-scientologist
CEO Gerry Chastelet said in the St.
Petersburg Times: "Digital Lightwave is not a Scientology company."
On 28.3.2000 the SEC sued Bryan J. Zwan for
fraud for his 1997 creative bookkeeping; the complaint describes
in every detail the scheme used by Zwan to "postulate" earnings. On 24.10.2001,
Zwan announced that he and the SEC had agreed to settle the commission's
action by consenting, without admitting or denying any of the commission's
allegations, to an injunction prohibiting him from violating reporting
and record keeping provisions of the federal securities laws. (Keep in
mind that the litigation department of the SEC was destroyed by the terrorist
attack of September 11). Two days after this, Zwan rejoined
the board. On January 23th, the non-Scientologist CEO resigned and
Zwan
came back as CEO.
The website digl-watch.com
is online! Tons of data about the fraud.
Good summary article
by the St.
Petersburg
Times.
On January 15, 2010, Digital Lightwave announced that the company would get private; through his front Optel Acquisition Corp., Zwan has bought back most of the shares. The remaining shareholders will get five and a half cents per share.
This completes the "cycle": the money obviously came from the IPO years earlier,
when one share sold for $12.
Zwan made a ton of money from it, and when the smoke cleared after over a decade,
he still owns the company.

are Scientologists! (Slatkin is also listed in the WISE 1997 list and was

In August 1999, a declaration
from Robert J. Cipriano surfaced, a guy who had formerly been a witness
for scientology. In it (Nr. 37 and 39), he says that Scientology attorney
Kendrick Moxon arranged him a job at Earthlink, although Earthlink wasn't
hiring; and that one Michael Hamra told him that Scientology has
access to the Earthlink subscriber database, and that the scientology internet
monitoring is done from Earthlink offices.
Later in 1999 Earthlink and Mindspring announced a merger. As a result,
Earthlink founder "Sky" Dayton was downgraded to "director" of the company.
On August 2, 2000 Sky Dayton was upgraded to Chairman of the Board.
Sky Dayton promotes Scientology through the Applied

In 2008 the company has

which is listed in the WISE 2001 and 2004 directories with Dennis
McKenna as contact, in 1999 with Bob
Graves as contact. Dennis McKenna was spokesman for scientology at
the time "Operation Freak-out" was exposed, and he said about the harassment
(which included framing scientology critic Paulette
Cooper by making up a bomb threat):
This situation is not in perspective
until one examines the extent to which Miss Cooper was covertly working
with the FBI and other federal agencies. Dennis McKenna is also a copyright
expert for scientology. I also noticed the name Don
Pearson on the website (he is Executive Vice President of e.Republic),
known from the Allstate
fiasco. The magazine covertly promotes scientology, through the front
groups Applied Scholastics
(alias "Effective Training Solutions") and its director Ingrid Gudenas,
FASE and Criminon:

Hollander Consultants, Inc,
another "management front", uses also the alias
Silkin Management Group since 2008, possibly because of the bad PR (see corporate data). In the WISE 1991 list they were WISE CEO Circle
members, and run by Larry Silver and Fred King. The list
entry had:
delivers consulting based solely on LRH tech. Their WISE
1997 directory entry had Train executives and staff in the Hubbard Administrative
tech throughout the US and Canada and the website does mention (October
2003) that they use the Hubbard
organizational and management technology. Also in the WISE 1999 list
but without the description of 1997. In an interview
with WISE Prosperity Magazine, Alan Hollander, president of Hollander
Consulting, said that they got 82 people started on the Bridge (i.e.
having entered Scientology). In another interview with WISE
Prosperity Magazine, Larry Silver said that one of his
greatest joys is to see our clients get on The Bridge. Read the corporate information

that before. Some of their clients are also Scientologists:
Peter
Gilham Nutrition, Ray Cassano Enterprises,
Wiseman

Read the opinion of Chirobase

extensively in the german book "Der Sektenkonzern" (see my
summary). He was the manager of Stahlbautechnik Neckar GmbH, which
he had bought from Krupp in 1989, and had introduced
scientology management techniques, and forced his employees to take
scientology courses. The result was a large scale fraud, as later described
by Jeanette Schweitzer, a former employee. (He
lost a lawsuit in which he attempted to prevent her from talking about
the fraud). In 1991 and 1993 his company was caught hiring illegal
aliens. In 1993 he was convicted for threatening his maid. He claimed in
court that he was penniless, and fled the country. He went to Albania,
where he tried to introduce
scientology management into the government ("Project A" / Bulgravia).
When Albania was informed of his background he was told to get out. He
then went to the US, and first settled in Clearwater. The
patent from his company is registered to one Heiner Schween (not

On July 17, 1999, the California
Department of Insurance sought to revoke their license. The alleged
modus operandi:
First, unsuspecting consumers are falsely promised the
lowest rates guaranteed. Then, they are gouged with excessive fees.
And, finally, they are subjected to threats, harassment, and
a tarnished credit report for simply shopping around
and finding a better deal." |
Excerpt from press release 109/1999
by the California Department of Insurance
When the press release above vanished from the website of the California
Department of Insurance, I e-mailed them to ask whether they had been a
settlement. I received this:
1. One year license suspension stayed, unconditionally, and
respondents placed on a 2 year probation.
2. Respondents shall obey all laws of the State of California
and the USA and all regulations promulgated thereunder.
3. Shall not sell any towing policy unless disclosed in writing
to the may have. applicant that said policy is not required
in order to purchase other coverage from Respondents and
that towing policy may be duplicative of other coverage applicant.
4. Shall provide a "Schedule of Fees" at the time of sale to every
customer.
5. Shall establish and maintain toll-free telephone number
solely to handle complaints or any requests for assistance
from customers. Will respond to any customer complaints either
orally or in writing, within 72 hours.
6. Within 10 days from the end of each 6 month interval during
the period of probation, file a report with DOI setting forth
number of complaints received from customers; how long it took

to the IAS, WISE 1991 CEO's Circle list, WISE 1997 list, WISE 1999 list
"serving WISE members for 15 years). In his profile,
Burke says he was a Controller for a national drug rehabilitation corporation
for many years. Any reason not to tell the name? Could it be NARCONON?
According to Jana Moreillon, he
was also a "minuteman" to handle dissidents.
Also surprising is that the US president of CCHR
is also named Bruce
Wiseman. He is the author of PSYCHIATRY:
The Ultimate Betrayal. Both people are mentioned to be former chairman
of the Department of History at John F. Kennedy University (CCHR
bio,
Wiseman &
Burke bio). If it is the same Scientologist, then I wonder what qualifies
an investment advisor to be a critic of psychiatry? Bruce Wiseman is also
thanked for his contribution in the Second Dynamics Book, a compilation
of L. Ron Hubbard works dealing with family, sex, children, etc.
They were also the managers of Scientologist Geoffrey
Lewis in 1985, according to the history
of Celestial Navigations. Bruce Wiseman was also Treasurer of the National Foundation for Women Legislators (more here,
visited in March 2004) at least until 2007. This group made an attempt
to get federal money for Second Chance, a Scientology drug rehabilitation
front in New Mexico (it failed when the connection to Scientology became
known). As of December 2010, Bruce Wiseman is still involved in the Policy Committee Education, Training and Workplace: among their initiatives is "Investigating the correlation between the use of anti-depressants amongst adolescents and teenagers and the increasing number of school shootings that have occurred over the last decade", a typical scientology propaganda allegation. Bruce Wiseman is no longer treasurer.
Bruce Wiseman is also using Paul Weyrich's American

Dr. Stephen C. Feinstein,
Chairman and Professor of History at the history department faculty of
the University of Wisconsin-River Falls,
gave Scientology propaganda an academic aroma with a report entitled"Art
as Propaganda Against Jews and Scientologists in Germany". The study
was translated in German and distributed in Germany within a few days,
so I could read it.
-
The input for this study came only from carefully selected
press material, court cases and Scientology allegations instead of a general
press overview and court documents (for example, he completely ignores
essential higher court cases, and focuses on a single lower court case);
-
He uses the logic that if a nazi paper uses an octopus as
symbol, then everyone else who uses the symbol shall be compared to nazis;
-
The study was not peer-reviewed.
-
Jeffrey K. Hadden †, Professor of Sociology
at the University of Virginia, made
a few extra bucks as cult
apologist for Scientology. His overview
of Scientology was rather good but it was made by a staff member, not
by himself. He was listed as "expert" by Freedom Magazine – that should
be evidence enough. I even made a parody
page. He was also featured as Heber
Jentzsch's sock puppet on CNN. He was also the author of the infamous
memo on neutralizing the anti-cult movement. He claimed that there
is no such thing as mind control, but said
the following (excerpt of a long text) after his memo was leaked to
the internet:
I have experienced the pain of having my own mind
temporarily warped by those who preached hate
against those who believe differently than they. |

CNN had a long record of supporting scientology
much more than any other TV station:
CNN has improved. On August 11, 2005 the show
Anderson Cooper 360° (watch the video,
read the transcript)
did interview two ex-Scientologists. And in 2010, the show made a 5 part series on the violence inside the organisation: Scientology - a history of violence.
-
Entertainment Tonight regularly
gives time to "celebrity" scientologists to recruit for scientology. ET
is produced by Paramount. The current ET executive producer is Linda
Bell Blue.
-
Friends of the United Nations is regularly
used to support scientology, probably because the name suggests that it
has something to do with the UN, although it is basically nothing more
than a U.N. fanclub. Search the name Irving Sarnoff in a search
engine and you'll find a lot connected to the cult.

The IRS made a deal
with Scientology in 1993 (no longer secret since 30.12.1997
!). They gave them tax exemption without telling why, although they had
won against Scientology in Hernandez
v. Commissioner, 490 U.S 680 (1989) and in Church
of Spiritual Technology v. U.S., US ClsCt. No. 581-88T, 6/29/92 (1992).
The turn-around came after David
Miscavige paid an unannounced visit to Fred T. Goldberg Jr., the commissioner
of the IRS in 1991. Goldberg then created a "special committee" to negotiate
a settlement with Scientology outside normal agency procedures!
(on
the right: Scientology postcard © 1997 CSI, item# 4178C)
The non-profit group tax analystssued
on the FOIA act, and the litigation record revealed the existence of that
secret "negotiations committee", chaired by Howard M. Schoenfeld. As a
result of these negotiations:
The Exempt Organizations Technical Division was instructed
not to review the exemption applications filed by the
Church of Scientology and its affiliates for compliance
with IRC 501(c)(3). |
(Schoenfeld Deposition, pp. 100
- 101, ll. 12 - 13.)
According
to the New York Times, tax analysts Donna Moore and Terrell M. Berkovsky
wrote memoranda specifying that they had been instructed [by Schoenfeld]
not to address issues like whether the church was engaged in too much commercial
activity or whether its activities provided undue private benefit to its
leaders.
(on the right: Scientology ad © 1997 CSI, item#
4181E)
The IRS wasn't satisfied to grant Scientology their much-wanted tax
exemption, as part of the deal it even sent
letters around the word proselytising for Scientology (a
scan is also available). The letter shown wasn't even sent to the finance
minister, but to the minister who watches cults! Read the story from Scientology's
Nr. 1:
And in order to fully correct the false reports
littering government files around the world, the IRS will
attach to each of these letters [announcing the tax exempt
ruling] a printed Fact Sheet on SCIENTOLOGY that explains
what SCIENTOLOGY really is, who LRH is, and what all of our
organizations are.
"It is very complete and very accurate," Mr. Miscavige
continued. "Now, how do I know? We wrote it! And the IRS
will be sending it out to every government in the world!" |
Issue 32 of Scientology News, titled
"The War Is Over!" (from Jeff)
Deeply hidden in the agreement
is a clause that it is a breach if the US Government provides similar tax
benefits for fixed donations to any other Religion. That makes Scientology
a "privileged church", like the anglican church in the UK:
... the following actions will be considered to be a material breach
by the Service:
(...)
b. the issuance of a Regulation, Revenue Ruling or other pronouncement
of general applicability providing that fixed donations to a religious
organization other than a church of Scientology are fully
deductible
unless the Service has issued previously or issues contemporaneously
a
similar pronouncement that provides for consistent and uniform
principles for determining the deductibility of fixed donations
for all
churches including the Church of Scientology |

The L.A.P.D. accepted $25,000
from Scientology. It is also often seen together with scientology;
one example is the Hollywood Police
Activities League (PAL), read an article
in scientology's propaganda paper, or see Hollywood police captain
Michael Downing accepting
$15,000 from Greg LaClaire of the Scientology Celebrity Centre, or
supporting
The Way to Happiness, or presenting
an "award" to Susan Watson, the President of the Scientology Celebrity
Centre. Even more amazing is that until February 2001, the LAPD was controlled
by Scientology's attorney Gerald L. Chaleff, who headed the police commission.
Gerald Chaleff's employer is the lawfirm
Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe
LLP. On December 10th of the same year, Chaleff joined the City Attorney's
Office to "help trim city liabilities and lead a new risk management effort".
In other words: Scientology is sitting on both sides of law enforcement.
-
Robert
F. Lewis, partner at Lewis,
D'Amato, Brisbois and Bisgaard, made a secret settlement with Scientology
behind the back of Dr. Uwe Geertz' attorney Graham E. Berry after he had won
against them. The deal included the promise never to litigate against Scientology
again, and to transfer all client files to a secret storage facility to
which only Scientology and Bob Lewis had access. When Ford
Greene, Dr. Geertz' new attorney, requested access to the files to
his custody, Lewis refused. Ultimately Dr. Geertz obtained a court order
requiring that Bob Lewis turn over the files. (Source: 4th decl. of Graham
Berry in RTC vs. FACTNet, available on request)
-
J. Gordon Melton, cult apologist who visited Japan with
co-apologist Barry
Fisher to investigate the "religious persecution" against AUM, regularly
supports Scientology. His "academic credential" and his "institute for
the study of the american religion" are basically the act of running a
huge library at the university of Santa Barbara, and compiling reference
materials. His hobby: vampires. Look at him:
I would of course also look there - but I would avoid getting caught on
camera!
-
Dr. Gabriele Yonan, a cult apologist from Berlin, has
already supported
scientology several times. She is sometimes presented as "professor
from the FU Berlin" - but this is
untrue. She is not a professor at the FU Berlin, and the University
has successfully applied for a restraining order forbidding her to repeat
this claim. Her comment in a talk show: it's "not her fault". Another activity
besides supporting an evil cult: writing to and about the Unabomber: she
wrote a somewhat scurrilous essay on him (no longer online).
-
Scientology maintains its own list
of academic sock puppets, who make "expert testimonies" that ignore
the reality of Scientology in favour of the PR image. Two particularly
blatant examples of hatemongering are Bryan
Wilson and Lonnie
Kliever, who both claim that people who speak against their former
"religion" are "apostates" and should not be trusted, because they "have
a motive". In another paper, of course not published on scientology's server,
Bryan Wilson claims that Scientology may still be called a religion even
if the religious appearance was added only to use favorable laws.
The "new" (Scientology-run) Cult Awareness Network kept a
list of cult apologists. You won't be surprised that they are mostly
the same.
