Date: Tue, 18 Apr 1995 03:15:02 +0000 As an asside to this religious ... I can't say I've ever met a Scientologist and certainly not Hubbard Himself. My mother, however, during post-war Britain had the misfortune to be secretary to his publisher and met him on many occasions. She described Him as "a pain in the arse. Always insisting that His books are more important than any others and that they should take priority." Paper, afterall, was still rationed and government policy required that priority be given to books useful to the rebuilding of a war torn society (spiritual guidance not being forgotten of course). It seems to me he was a very clever man who took full advantage of vulnerable people tryiny to rebuild their lives after years of war - but that's my opinion and may be misguided? However, He's back to haunt. I went home for Easter to find a perfectly decent house in my old road boarded up ready for demolition following a request by the newly arrived Scientolists for an additional access road to their newly acquired Manor House - they probably objected to the current long drive past a farmyard. Planning "irregularities" seem to have given the house a reprieve, however. -- Roy -- Apologies for extending a misplaced thread -- I own a perfectly good AVO! And it could measure those anomalies!
