The "pill" had just been released, and suddenly one could have sex without worry of conception... . The sexually repressive climate of of the 50's had created a pent up urge on a societal level and we called it free love All the big hit songs made some allusions to sex. Louie, Louie was still a campus hit. The grateful dead's "hello little school girl" was on the radio, and Jefferson Airplane's "When the truth is found, to be LIES" was still echoing in the heads of the entire generation. The thinking beatnicks gave way to the hippies and the freaks. The Mai Lai massacre was in the washington post. The smell of tear gas during the protests on the steps of the Pentagon reminded us that reality was not all it was cracked up to be, as our president claimed this was a "limited war" Limited war? What is LIMITED WAR? We knew an oxymoron when we saw it long before the word was in vogue We knew our government was lying to us. So we embarked upon a quest for truth. The Beatles found LSD and then a maharishi. I found a Nuclear Physicist and highly decorated WWII war hero named L Ron Hubbard who said that everyone lied but him. I was 16. The only thing that always works in scientology are its lawyers The internet is the liberty tree of the 90's http://www.lermanet.com - mentioned 4 January 2000 in The Washington Post's - 'Reliable Source' column re "Scientologist with no HEAD"
