FRANK MACKAY comes to the present from the distant future, from a time where men are immortal and women have died out. He is looking for Laura Luna, author of the novel "Tiger-Stripe Woman Waits for Tarzan", because he has fallen in love with her picture and wants to take her with him into the 5th millenium.
He has very little cash, but a backpack full of gold. First he meets Luise and Theo who are returning home from their honeymoon in Italy and who give him a ride to Berlin. Luise makes it plain that she is attracted to him, but he rejects her.
In Berlin, Frank vits the publisher of "Tiger-Stripe Woman " and finds out Laura's new address. He visits her at home with ahuge bouquet of roses.
Laura is also immediately attracted to him and goes out to dinner with him. In the restaurant Laura notices a mysterious Chinese man who observes them. On the way home, the Chinese man follows them. Back home at the apartment, they realize that the place has been searched. After that, Laura wants to go away with Frank, to a place where no one can find them. Frank calls Luise, asking her to bring him the gold from his hotel room. The meeting place is a freeway restaurant.
In a lonely hunting lodge, which belongs to Laura's father, the three of them settle down, intending to stay for a while
Rudolf Thome's entertaining feature, whose basic idea reminds us of some of his early works, poses the question: What stops us from taking our happiness in our own hands? A fictional figure, a mysterious visitor from the future inspires a handful of people on earth to seek fulfillment.
