- Implementation of boot protocol, boot-time interface drivers, CMOS image sensor drivers and a CMOS image sensor simulator.

Semiconductor metrology tool automation (April 2002 - October 2002)

Project: Integration of a Genmark Automation 6-axes robot into a high-throughput Siemens 3D wafer inspection system, used in the semiconductor industry for inline process control.

Responsibilities: - Responsible for the complete robotics subproject, including interface design, software implementation, hardware setup and coordination with the robotics supplier.
- Designed the process control subsystem including GUI.
- Refactored other critical subsystems.

Semiconductor metrology software platform (June 1999 - March 2002)
Customer: Philips Analytical GmbH

Project: Development of a SEMI-compatible software platform for metrology systems in the semiconductor industry, supporting a wide range of metrology hardware. The software encompassed all hardware and measurement control, data aquisition, storage and presentation, the local controlling GUI and interaction with a remote host computer.

Responsibilities: - Member of the architecture group; co-responsible for the overall design.
- Responsible for large parts of the implementation on the first target hardware platform: hardware control, job control, data aquisition, numerical analysis, sample transport, pattern recognition, GUI elements as well as all hardware setup and alignment tools.
- Implemented a realistic hardware simulator.
- Interacted closely with application engineers / physicists for requirement analysis and hardware/software optimizations.
- Third-level support for Philips service engineers.
- Coordinated german and canadian development teams; coached canadian team during eight month's stay in canada.
