Ciberplai is a webring which aims to synchronize Romania to post-industrial
democracies. (....) an individual based structure wishing to combine the
experience of Romanians who have been successfully integrated in the post-industrial
democracies and the determination of individuals working in Romania to
enhance the civic society influences on Romanian political actions. The
structure is horizontal, without an hierarchy. The main activity of the
ring is to debate societal issues. For instance, now, the discussions are
about the educational framework of teaching history ( the relation
between myths, history and politics). There are also WebPages dedicated
to comments about activities of Romanian Ministry of Education following
a proposal of one of us. The proposal was to build mirror sites of official
sites of Romanian ministries in which we may comment and propose solutions
to governmental problems. (....)"

Fremantle Community Precinct System
Mark Randell writes:
(QUOTE) In Fremantle, we have adopted a system for facilitating dialogue
and action between the governed and the governing known as the Fremantle
Community Precinct System. The system consists of a set of community groups
(‘Precincts’), operating under the auspices of the Precinct System, that
take an interest in (usually) some patch of territory within the municipality,
and interact with the City Council on matters that affect that ‘patch’.
The operations of the groups are governed by a ‘Precinct Charter’ agreed
between the Council and the groups. (UNQUOTE)

"The Manston Airport Group (M.A.G.) was formed
on 11th November 1998 and has four
objectives:-
1.To monitor the development of Manston Airport.
2.To ensure the development is environmentally acceptable.
3.To disseminate information to interested parties, particularly
the
local community.
4.To help and advise those affected by the development
M.A.G. do NOT oppose the development of the airport, but are deeply
concerned about the future lack of statutory controls and the effect
this will have on the local community."
